Works for me, too. Thank you, rsc! I agree: it would be good to get this machine booting out of the box.
I also tried 10.04 LTS, and it has similar problems. However, the following works: - install 10.04 amd64 from CD - install linux-image-2.6.38-11-generic from http://packages.ubuntu.com/fi/lucid/linux-image-2.6.38-11-generic (transfer it to the laptop using an USB stick) - add GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="nouveau.modeset=0" to /etc/default/grub - run sudo update-grub - reboot Slightly OT: To get the Nvidia display working properly, add the PPA from https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat/+archive/x-updates and enable the nvidia driver by running jockey-gtk. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/864739 Title: Ubuntu doesn't work on HP Elitebook 8560w To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/864739/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
