Thanks for your reply, and also for pointing out that the Ubuntu hashes for the most recent release were not there. I thought the page was updated with the release of Ubuntu 11.10 - I'm fixing it right now.
I've checked the MD5SUM of the ISO image you downloaded and it matches the one published on all Ubuntu mirrors, therefore the download should not be corrupted. Could you please describe in detail the commands you use to mount the image, as well as the complete and precise text of any error messages that appear?
