Yes I found also that  blacklisting rt2800 etc without installing the rt2860 
drivers (as I did via the deb in my previous post)  leaves  you with no 
wireless function.
In 11.04 my Rt3090 wireless on the asus ePC900ax was using rt2860 driver. This 
doesn't seem to be available in 11.10 by default.
