Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: hal

Hi,

I'm running Feisty Fawn on my laptop and I have found a problem with
Gnome power manager applet after upgrading to the latest HAL version
(0.5.9-1ubuntu2~feisty1(feisty backports). The problem is as follow:

When?
The problem happens when resuming from hibernation, suspend or screensaver if
the Gnome power manager applet is in the Gnome panel and HAL version 0.5.9 is
installed.

What?
When resuming from these phases, the screen brightness gradually (in steps)
increases slowly and the Gnome power manager applet doesn't appear in the Gnome
panel immediately (but there is a blank space where the icon is supposed to
be). When the screen brightness is at the correct level, the Gnome power
manager applet icon is displayed in the Gnome panel and everything works
properly.

If HAL is forced to the previous version (0.5.8.1-4ubuntu12 (feisty) the
problem disappears!

Can you replicate this bug or have any info about it?

Thanks

My system:
MSI S260 laptop
Ubuntu 7.04 with all latest updates (as of 16 may 2007)
