OK, this is definitely not a bug. If you add a repository manually to
/etc/apt/sources.list without using the apt-add-repository command, then
the GPG key used to verify software digital signatures is not imported
in the "keyring" (collection of GPG keys) used by apt (and by any
software program that is a frontend on it, be it Synaptic, apt-get,
Software Center...). This makes apt not capable to verify the digital
signatures themselves (they are downloaded each time you run an "apt-get
update" or an update from Synaptic), so it emits the warning you
mentioned.
The fix I have suggested imports the missing GPG key (in this case, the
one for extras.ubuntu.com) into the APT keyring, solving the problem.
If, on the contrary, you use the "apt-add-repository" command or the
Software Sources window, it automatically imports the key into the
keyring and Synaptic/apt-get won't show any error messages.
I'm closing this bug report as Invalid, as what you have described is
not a bug - feel free to ask here if you need further clarifications and
to report any new bugs.
