Is it, don't think so, the simple reason being while that one talks
about not being able to see mine is the confirmation of the install.
Granted both of them are related to each other but I'm talking one side
of the story, while he is talking about another. A successful error-free
installation would be something like this :-
sudo dpkg -i pidgin-libnotify_0.12-1\~getdeb1_i386.deb
Selecting previously deselected package pidgin-libnotify.
(Reading database ... 130736 files and directories currently installed.)
Unpacking pidgin-libnotify (from pidgin-libnotify_0.12-1~getdeb1_i386.deb) ...
Setting up pidgin-libnotify (0.12-1~getdeb1) ...
