There is a workaround for this problem. Create a new file in
/etc/X11/Xsession.d and name it as you want, say
/etc/X11/Xsession.d/99baroslized, and write "unset UBUNTU_MENUPROXY" to
it. Unfortunately, ~/.profile is not acceptable because the variable is
set after ~/.profile is called.

In addition to the annoying bug, GNOME Terminal in Ubuntu 11.10 has two
more bugs in my experience. So I've decided to temporarily use sakura (a
terminal emulator) instead. I will report them soon.
