What is the mdadm configuration here? it's not at all obvious why a
device with a non-partitioned device name is being changed to one with a
partitioned device name, without more information about the setup. LVM
volumes, for example, have undergone no such device name change.
This will presumably affect upgrades from 10.04 to 12.04 as well, so we
should try to get this one fixed for the LTS.
