Since two or three days ago pidgin will reproducibly hang when chatting
with any one of my Yahoo contacts. I narrowed the problem down to the
evolution plugin in lucid which I have to disable or simply opening a
new message window will hang pidgin. The only way to recover is to
"killall -s 9 pidgin". This is 100% reproducible for me, but I don't
really understand why things were working until only a few days ago.
Steps to reproduce
1) start pidgin, log into YM
2) double click on one of your YM contacts to start a chat
result: pidgin becomes completely unresponsive
The evolution plugin in later releases has been disabled due to
compilation problems in the past. Therefore it's not possible to test
this issue in precise at the moment until bug 887018 is resolved.
