The first stable release of GNOME Shell is available in Ubuntu 11.10
which I recommend you try. The code has changed significantly since the
preview release available in Ubuntu 10.10 so it's very unlikely that any
one is interested in trying to fix these old bugs.
I've verified that the Software Center does show in 11.10's GNOME Shell
activities overview.
