There's something I can add to the above. The very day I wrote the post
the original ability to show SMB shares in Nautilus reappeared for a
while, then, several days later, there is nothing again.
Meantime, smbclient shows the shares OK. But Nautilus says "unable to mount
location" ("failed to retrieve share list from server").
Or, alternatively, when I go through GO >> Location... and type "smb:///myhost"
in location bar, it simply returns "not found".
So, maybe somebody could tell me just WHAT's to be checked???
I'll be VERY glad to supply whatever information is available on my computer.
One thing seems clear right now: smbclient is showing the shares OK while
Nautilus' "Browse Network" is NOT.
