Public bug reported:

Hello,
I am really a newbie in all this of linux. I installed Ubuntu in my computer
and all works fine but it didn't work with big files in 32 bits. So I started
reading and people said that maybe upgrading ubuntu it will work. So I did it.
And now everything is lost. I know that the applications and all are still
there, but not in the screen and not as usually. I couldn' t find terminal or
open it and neither any application. I only obtain a upscreen bar with edit,
see, go, markers and help, not the ubuntu 11.10 supposed bars in the left and
right side, nor the shortcuts, anything... And I really dont know what to do to
open terminal or change this. Any help?
