As far as I could debug it by now, it seems to be an internal problem of
Bibble5, on which the libraries of oneiric respond differently compared
to those of natty. I had a special situation (inconsistency between
database and pictures on disk) which caused the crash, but that problem
existed definitely before upgrading to oneiric, and with natty it did
not cause any problems.

Tracing B5 shows that it tries to load several libraries not existing in
oneric, and it's hard to tell what sort of trouble this could cause.
