Yes, like the daily PPA I tried, the hang is gone in -proposed. When this is due to the proxy setting, the Ubuntu Music pane shows an error message "Cannot connect to proxy (localhost)", which seems pretty helpful.
When this is due to the network cable being unplugged, the pane shows first a blank grey screen, then a blank white screen, with no error information. So much better for people with intermittent connections. And hopefully it'll be fixed _properly_ at some point :).
