Here's a screencast. In it I follow the steps of the original repro. 1. Double-click fake.txt in Nautilus. gedit opens. 2. Type 'asdf' into gedit. 3. alt-tab back to Nautilus. 4. Double click foobar.txt. 5. gedit opens the file and comes to the front, but doesn't have focus. 5. Type ctrl-I to goto line in gedit and end up renaming a file (NB pressing 'F2' is even worse, since Nautilus doesn't come to the front).
