gnome-app-install offers you an option to launch a program just after
installing it by double-clicking its icon or name; this involves no
interaction with the gnome menubar, and made me think that something
similar could be done in gdebi.

How does gnome-app-install do it? Isn't there a way that gdebi could
replicate the process?
