  Press alt+f1
  don't use arrow keys to select an icon, instead just click back on the Desktop

+ What happens:
+ Nothing change visually but the keyboard shortcuts (change workspace, 
alt-tab, etc) stop working
  
  Desktop will return to the upper left panel , left click works.
  The right click on the Desktop doesn't work nor does any click on panel 
indicators or global menu
  The arrow keys remain active in the launcher
  
  Because alt+f1 does not produce any 'active'  sign that focus is on the
  launcher this could present some confusion if alt+f1 was inadvertently
  hit when intending to do alt+f2

  Alt+F1 causes some focus to stay on launcher unless a Favorites icon
