Thanks for your bug report. I've experienced this same problem as well, as have a lot of other users. Unfortunately it seems like CCSM is flaky in 11.10 right now, so I would advise against using it. I was only able to fix this issue on my system by reinstalling, but there are a couple things you can try:
Check out this Ask Ubuntu Question: http://askubuntu.com/questions/17610/how-do-i-reset-my-unity-configuration This worked for some users: https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+question/177651/ Alternatively you can boot into an Ubuntu-2d session and install an alternate desktop environment by running software center from a terminal, which you can bring up by pressing ctrl+alt+t and typing 'sudo software-center'. This won't bring Unity back, but KDE, Gnome 3.2, and XFCE are great alternatives. ** Package changed: ubuntu => unity (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: unity (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed ** Tags added: likely-dup -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/890406 Title: cant see launcher or top task bar and power To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/890406/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
