If you take a look at Unity 2D what I'm suggesting is already implemented
there, you click on show more apps and the icons start popping, right now
(depending on the amount of apps installed) it takes around 4 seconds to show
up the first time.
It was the same thing with the wallpaper chooser in gnome 2, if you had many
wallpapers installed and you wanted to change the wallpaper you had to wait for
the application to fetch every wallpaper you had, now with gnome 3 the
wallpaper chooser immediatly starts showing you the wallpapers it's fetching
and so it feels snappier and you don't have to wait for every wallpaper to be
discovered to be able to change it, if you see the one you were looking for pop
up you just click on it and you have it changed.
What do you mean with what's my configuration?

Thanks.
