This issue concerns useability of Unity with a major office application. I suggest it should receive greater attention, as this issue should certainly not persist in the LTS 12.04 release.
The problem seems aggraviated in 11.10, where sometimes Unity looses track of a Libreoffice document alltogether (i.e., there is even no "ghost" icon anymore representing the application). It is diffucult to reproduce the latter issue, though.
