Public bug reported:

At the UDS "making community obvious on the desktop" session, we were
attempting to solve the problem that there are a lot of users who feel
like they're somewhat alone in using Ubuntu, when in truth there are
probably hundreds of other Ubuntu users nearby.

One simple, actionable suggestion is to make the Installer slideshow
give a brief note about the popularity and growth of Ubuntu (20 million
users or so according to the latest estimates). This would help inform
users that there is a much wider world out there of community support,
involvement, and contribution. Additionally, it would help provide
social proof of Ubuntu and make people doing the install feel better
about their decision :)

** Affects: ubiquity-slideshow-ubuntu (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
