Public bug reported: Description: Ubuntu 11.10 Release: 11.10 (Xubuntu)
Installing Xubuntu (and I guess also Ubuntu) from the official release CD offers the option to encrypt the /home directory. After doing so the suspend to disk does not work. The reason is: The swap-partition is also encrypted, so after a reboot the memory image cannot be read from this partion. An complicated work around is suggested by http://forum.ubuntuusers.de/topic/ruhezustand-mit-lenovo-thinkpad-t410/ and http://forum.ubuntuusers.de/topic/probleme-mit-ruhezustand-suspend-to-disk/ (in German!) This works. But it should not be the standard procedure I guess. I suggest not to encrypt the swap partion by default is the solution. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/891207 Title: Suspend to disk fails after standard install procedure from cd with encrypted home directory To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/891207/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
