Reading the current documentation (http://doc.powerdns.com/types.html) I fail to see where this is "clearly stated".
This section is still there: The fields have complicated and sometimes controversial meanings. The 'serial' field is special. If left at 0, the default, PDNS will perform an internal list of the domain to determine highest change_date field of all records within the zone, and use that as the zone serial number. This means that the serial number is always raised when changes are made to the zone, as long as the change_date field is being set. Also, it appears that the serial is 0 by default. How could this be anything but a bug? Saying it is changed because of popular demand is just weird. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/394889 Title: PDNS does not handle SOA serial 0 as it should To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pdns/+bug/394889/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
