The issue seems to be with the Linux kernel 3.0, probably caused by the
newly introduced AMD Llano Fusion APU support introduced, as 11.04 also
works, but distributions using the 3.0 kernel turn the screen off when
the kernel initializes (tried Fedora 16, OpenSuse 12.1, Linux Mint 12
RC, Ubuntu 11.10 ). This problem has also been reported on the ubuntu
forums, see http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1860032.
