Public bug reported:

Geeqie renders shadows of pictures in a completely erratic way, with
"erratic" meaning that it consistently differs from each and every other
program I tried (gthumb, gimp, chrome, firefox, image viewer).

Shadows are brightened to an extreme level, which exposes things that
were not supposed to be seen (i.e. compression artifacts) and generally
results in a poor image.

See example images:
rendered by geeqie: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/16/geeqie.jpg/
Original: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/839/originalxi.jpg/

I could consistently reproduce it with several different images from
various sources (gimp, photoshop, imagemagick) and in various formats
(png, jpg, tiff).

Considering that geeqie is supposedly aimed at photography (rather than
casual viewing), I personally consider this fault to be CRITICAL.
