@Steve Potter-

Thanks for reporting your results. Unfortunately, the stack trace fldigi
produces doesn't include the debugging information we'll need to track this
down. I have built a new "debugging-enabled" version of fldigi, which I would
like you to install and test. Please add this PPA to your system:

  https://launchpad.net/~kamalmostafa/+archive/fldigi-debug-test

and then install the debug version of fldigi with:

  $ sudo apt-get install fldigi-dbg

Now, unfortunately (again) the internal stack backtrace that fldigi emits when
it crashes still won't have the debug information we need -- to get it, you'll
have to follow the procedure outlined at
http://wiki.debian.org/HowToGetABacktrace#Running_gdb
Please follow those general instructions -- you will run "$ gdb fldigi" from a
command line, then use gdb's command "bt" to print the backtrace after it
crashes. The resulting backtrace should include the debug info we'll need --
please paste it here. If you have any trouble getting the backtrace, feel free
to contact me directly.

Thanks in advance for your efforts to help get this fixed.
