Public bug reported:

I wanted to install albaextractor (from alba.sourceforge.net), but I
was unable to install the deb because of unsatisfied dependencies and so
I had to download an unpackaged binary and drop it in /usr/local/bin.
The libraries I needed were xlibs, libtiff3 and libpng2.

Would it not be possible to have more of such legacy libraries available
in the repositories?

libpng2 would need to be no more than a dummy package dependent on
libpng3 by the look of things, because albaextractor worked quite
happily once libpng3 had been installed from the ubuntu repository.

** Affects: Ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Unconfirmed
