Public bug reported:

New clean install of 11.10 x86 Desktop.

No sound with Audigy 2 ZS sound card after install.

Setting the proper configuration using System Setting / Sound did not
properly enable sound on system.

Installed gnome-alsamixer but it would not launch.

Installed and ran command line alsamixer and properly set configuration.
