Public bug reported:

I recently upgraded to 11.10 and now, whenever I open gnome-system-
monitor, dbus-daemon will continuously use 65%-75% of the CPU, while the
system monitor will stay at a steady 32%. I will also not be able to
close the system monitor without manually killing the process (it will
ignore any efforts to kill it through gnome). However, if I run top, I
can see that dbus-daemon does not even appear on the list until I run
the system monitor, so it looks like the system monitor itself is the
culprit.
