I have previously been using linux mint 11 (natty based), but i have
installed 11.10 so i can get some more feedback from the ubuntu
community.

I installed a fresh copy of mint, started troubleshooting suspend/resume
- and it worked with some minor bugs not related to black screen.

After trying to troubleshoot lid close/open (power manager for lid
actions set to "none"). a weird bug happened: the screen would not turn
back on. I can shuffle alt+ctrl+f1 - alt+ctrl+f7, but the desktop froze.
it would not respond to keyboard shortcuts. I could move the mouse, but
nothing was clickable. After a while, graphics corruption occured on
desktop. Switching to tty1 took a lot of time after pressing
alt+ctrl+f1. I decided to ssh from the desktop i'm writing this now and
append my logs by using apport-collect. I have just tried switching back
to tty7: the corruption is no more, but there is only a wallpaper and
the cursor which i Can move. there is nothing else. there are no
cpu/memory hogs. Logs will follow.
