I have the same Problem and the Same board.
Actually sound works most of the time. (about 90% of the time)
I'm watching this problem quite some time.
What I found out is based on few statistics so ist perhaps not too genreally
but:
-Sound never worked on 32bit system 11.04
-Sound sometimes in 64bit 11.04 doesnt work when rehibernated/restarted but
mostly alsamixer configuration is wrong. (90% of sound losts)
-Sometimes when rehibernated/restarted and sound doesn't work i do the whole
stuff of the sound troubleshoting, and sound doesnt work, but next time when
restarted it works. (9%)
-Sometimes (the missing 1%) the sound does never come back even when several
times doing the sound troubleshooting and restarting. then I use a live
USB-booted System and install Ubuntu 11.04 new. (attention if sound doesn't
work in live system (very rare, about every 10 times) then it will not work in
the fresh installed system.)

so far about my observancies
