Public bug reported:
I will try to launch an application via the unity-2d-panel search icon
to retrieve the "unity-2d-places" menu. Most of the time lately, search
fails to include applications. I have to click "x" to clear search or
close/re-open unity-search several times before applications will list
also from the search-bar. When the problem occurs, there are only
3-icons at the bottom of the search bar, again missing the applications
menu. Once the applications menu eventually starts retrieving, a 4th
icon will also display at the bottom for applications menu.
This problem seems to have been introduced after an update a couple
weeks ago.
Thank you for developing Unity-2d interface. It is light-weight enough
for my computers while offering many useful shortcuts and features.
Temporarily I have had to switch to LXDE so an apps menu is available.
