Public bug reported:

This is very strange. Since Maverick Merkaat y internal mic stopped
working. Now, thanks to a thread in ubuntuforum (1769886) I discovered
that opening pavucontrol and setting the "right" channel to anything
lower than the "left" channel makes the mic work again.

The problem is that adjusting the volume of the internal mic with the
sound applet locks the two channel again at the same level, and the mic
stops working.

I tried in Natty the ppa-drivers and there was no difference.

The external mic works in any case.
