Here is the result of more tests to try to find what triggers this problem:
The following factors had no effect on the problem (Ubiquity crashed each time at the same point): - using a different proxy (we have currently 2 in my corporate network) - installing the 32 bit or the 64 bit version of Kubuntu 11.10 - starting with a disk already partitioned (and reusing those partitions) or a disk with no partition and creating them during install - installing in English instead of if French - installing on another machine Only this factor had an effect: - installing Ubuntu 11.10 64 bit instead of Kubuntu 11.10 64 bit was successful A strange fact: - I could install Kubuntu 11.10 64 bit successfully on the same machine shortly after it was released. Now this is no more possible. Possible explanation: - could a recent change in a repository used by Kubuntu but not by Ubuntu be the reason for the current problem? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/898666 Title: Ubiquity crash while checking packages to install...20% To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/898666/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
