there's nothing in the syslog in this case dmesg can be written to the console, but it's not written to disc, and i cannot login via ssh to copy paste. /dev system is not usable to mount anything, only the basic nodes are there, and udev cannot create nodes for pendrives plugged in, since it is a read only filesystem. I will try to make the necessary nodes before booting the server kernel (by booting cd/rescue). I don't know if it will help.
