As a workaround try the following:

- Set the "Halftone Algorithm" option to "Standard" (in system-config-printer 
and/or the application's print dialogs)
- Try also to change other option settings, like "Quality" or "Resolution".
- Try to change the driver to HP's driver. If this driver does not work, run 
"sudo hp-plugin -i" to install the proprietary part of the driver.

Please tell which of these measures work.
