I upgraded from 11.04 to 11.10 and have apparently the same message, although I don't get the full line before the machine locks up. [ 0.317253] ACPI: Power Button [PWRF] [ 0.318208] BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference
Obviously not very useful. I get this when I use the option 'Ubuntu, with Linux 3.0.0-14-generic (recovery mode)' I am unable to boot with plain Linux 3.0.0-14-generic or 3.0.0-13-generic, just get a lockup. I am still able to boot to 2.6.38-13-generic. I initially thought the problem was due to an AGP nVidia graphics card, but I have removed that and supposedly all the nVidia drivers with no improvement. I can supply further information if required. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/891668 Title: [BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at (null)] Installing Ubuntu 11.10 32-bit Desktop on Intel 865PERL [ To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/891668/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
