Public bug reported:

Using the current daily build (coincidentally, Alpha 1) and the volume
isn't working as expected. As early as 5 days ago, the daily build
worked as expected (all cases are being done from a USB thumb drive,
live session).

On Alpha 1 I am having issues with the volume slider and sound quality.
Sound quality isn't quite as good as it should be (slight muffle) and
the volume slider is entirely misleading. I cannot hear ANY audio until
it is at least halfway. I can't hear it at a comfortable level until it
is at roughly 80%. Once it hits a comfortable level, the audio slider
grows multitudes louder after increasing only a very slight bit. Maybe
this is why I think it sounds "muffled"; the audio is too loud or too
low.

I am positive that this is not a hardware problem.
