For some reason, building PK on Ubuntu's buildd leads to a strange daemon crash 
(PkProc type is registered twice)
There is a workaround for this in PKs main development tree, as soon as PK 
0.7.2 is out, it will work again (at least that's what I expect)
Could you maybe install the PackageKit package from Debian ( 
http://packages.debian.org/sid/packagekit ) and try it again with the binaries 
built for Debian?
