I am running Kubuntu 11.10 and that bug is still present. I see the
importance still set to "Undecided".

May I suggest to set it to a quite high level? C++11 is now officially
through, having "-std=c++0x" or "-std=c++11" is getting more and more
common, having GCC fail on BOOST on recent *buntu platforms is not good.

The workaround will work, but many users who just want to "./configure;
make" a package will shy off performing the edits (even if they have the
rights).
