Yup I'll second that, it seems to do "ok" under Unity with the global menu. but not under Gnome shell or Gnome2.3 with out a global menu.
I hope things can be re-done to have the window automatically resize as the status bar and toolbar are enabled or disabled, and when switching between images using arrow keys. Possible?
