there are no files called /var/log/dist-upgrade
locate dist-upgrade shows only these:
/etc/X11/xorg.conf.dist-upgrade-2009...
/usr//lib/python2.6/dist-packages/DistUpgrade/dist-upgrade.py
and a few otherws like this, nothing in /var/log
