I'm in the middle of a big city. In this room with Ubuntu 11.04 and the
same hardware I never needed second try for the connection. Indeed, if I
try to connect with Ubuntu 11.10 about 10 times, I get the connection.

I would say, this is definitely a bug. Not a major one, but essential
for the user experience. So I vote to reopen with bug in order to draw
attention to this problem.

By the way, could you post your script here?
