Hi Gunnar, I went to synaptic and installed lightdm-gtk-greeter. I didn't have it installed. also the greeter session was unity-greeter. Also added the true for the show language bar.
Did a reboot and now it appears. I must say that in my opinion the greeter is nicer than unity. Among all the variations of English, I finally saw Hebrew, so I chose it. It nicely ignored me and continued in English. Next time I logged in, it was back to English as the default language. My guess is that I still don't have your corrected version, so I will wait another few days. Since you obviously understand the system, I would like your opinion on another bug I reported: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/883533 The unity bar, without colors, isn't nearly as nice as the high contrast bar, but the high contrast bar is missing the "gear" at the end to do a shutdown, logoff etc. It might be as simple as a missing png file, but I don't understand the structure of the object. I tried to dig in but I couldn't find the missing piece. If you have a few minutes please look over what was written and give me your opinion.
