Thanks for this report.

There does seem to be a couple of strange situations in which Ubuntu
upgrades don't install ecryptfs-utils, when they really, really,
*really* should.  We really need to get to the bottom of those, though.
I'll need some help from mvo on this.

For now, I'm marking this bug High, but Incomplete.  We really need to
re-test this against 11.10 or ideally the 12.04 Precise milestones, as
Ubuntu 10.10 is a little out-of-date for this sort of
testing/development at this point.
