Well, tracking down the code in that trace has been quite fun! But I
have other work to tend to for now... :( Of course, as soon as I started
on my way to doing something productive I had another KP,  This time
something new happened, Gnome-terminal died on me during 'sudo service
bluetoth restart', 'hcitool dev', or 'hcitool -i hci0 scan' while I was
trying to pair with my mouse....

Oh, not sure if I mentioned this, but I reinstalled Ubuntu on a fresh
partition and it's the same song and dance.
