I talked to someone who is more into Ubuntu than me, and happens to have the 
exact same computer, and he told me I had to use the following combination of 
flags at boot:
acpi=force
noapic
nohz=off

With those, Oneiric boots fine, but that doesn't dismiss the fact it's
still a regression from 2.6.31.

I also attach the dmesg log from this boot from a live usb of Oneiric
with those flags. It may help.
