Public bug reported:

Doing File->Export as PDF permanently breaks the "Show non-printing
characters" feature. rm -rf $HOME/.libreoffice fixes the problem
(until the next Export As PDF).

Investigation showed that .libreoffice/3/user/registrymodifications.xcu
changed during 'Export As PDF' in some way which caused the breakage.

I will attach the before and after versions of the
registrymodifications.xcu file.

Also: During the Export-As-PDF, the following warning appeared on the terminal
where lowriter was launched:
(soffice:8684): Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to retrieve the file info for
`file:///tmp/Untitled%201': Error stating file '/tmp/Untitled 1': No such file
or directory
(I had selected '/tmp/Untitled 1' in the file-selection dialog when creating
the PDF. The PDF was written successfully and looks good.)

TO REPRODUCE:

1. lowriter
2. Type a few lines
3. View->Nonprinting Characters (confirm that paragraph markers are visible)
4. File->Export As PDF
(non-printing characters disappear and can never again be viewed in this or any
other document)
