I got the same error.
I own 7 usb drives. on 5 the safely remove the drive works without any
problem. on 2 I got tha error. One of those 2 drives are 5 years old and
the other is 3 month old.
This problem must belong to some hardware features or custimatuzaion
features.
Hope this helps to analyze the problem. I will futher investigate to see
any difference between the drives.
