Thank you for your report. It was more of a support query than a bug
report so may have received a better/faster response using one of the
options described on http://www.ubuntu.com/support/CommunitySupport
rather than bugs.launchpad.net .
Doing
sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg
will have added horizontal and vertical sync ranges . The drivers were also
switched to the nvidia binary drivers.
Thanks for taking the time to report this and helping to make Ubuntu
better. This particular issue has already been reported and is a
duplicate of bug #91292 and is being marked as such.
